Challah Bread

Today I made Challah bread. It is a traditional Jewish bread. It tastes pretty good. Jake and RD enjoyed it! I think that if i make it again, I will add a little more sugar since I like my bread kind of sweet. Here is the recipe.

4 1/2 tsp yeast
1 Cup warm water (110 -115 degrees)
1/2 Cup oil
1/3 Cup sugar
1 Tablespoon salt
4 eggs
6-6 1/2 cups flour

TOPPING:

1 egg
1 tsp cold water

1. In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the oil, sugar, salt, eggs and 4 cups flour;beat until smooth. Stir in remaining flour to form a firm dough.
2. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
3. Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and divide in half. Cut each half into thirds. Shape each piece into a 15 inch rope and braid together. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
4. Beat eggs and cold water, brush over braids. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

What A Dreary Day!!!

Today is such a rainy day! It has been drizzling since early this morning. We haven't done much at all. Audrie watched 'Game Plan' and thought it was pretty good. Mark helped me fold some clothes.

Earlier this week, Audrie lost two teeth in less than 24 hours. The tooth fairy gave her $4 all together. She thought she deserved like $10, but the tooth fairy doesn't have that kind of money. There is a picture of her showing her 'lack of teeth' up above.

Jake enjoyed hanging out in the bucket and getting licked by Lyza. I think Lyza is his favorite dog. He likes Gin too, but I don't let Gin lick him since she eats her poop. Gross huh!?!?!?!?!

Windy Tuesday!

Today was a pretty boring day. Jake had Physical Therapy. He does pretty good, but prefers messing with toys at home. He loves to grab at the wreath and blinds with his 'gimp' hand. Slowly but surely he is getting better! Mark and I are very excited.

Audrie is at Tae-Kwon-Do now kicking some imaginary bootie. She got in trouble one day at school for showing the kids how to do some of the moves. I thought it was pretty funny.

Easter!

The Easter Bunny came bright and early this morning delievering camo colored eggs with chocolate inside. She also brought Audrie a Hannah Montana shirt and sunglasses. Bubs didn't get anything though. I bet the Easter Bunny figured that since Bubs couldn't eat the candy that he wouldn't want anything. We then went to church where Bubs and I mainly hung out in the nursery and then off to Meridy's with Mark's family for lunch. We had the Buffet and pigged out! Right now Mark is napping and Audrie is cleaning her room. Bubs is sitting here drooling on my arm. I was gonna take pictures of us in our Easter outfits, but forgot! My mind must be slipping a bit. Oh Well!
